Sorry for not doing much with the site recently, your webmaster has not been in the best of health. As you can see though, I'm on the mend and getting back to doing some bits and pieces.

We have a new village sign on the green. Pictures can be reached by clicking 'The Village Green' on the opening page or by clicking here

Happy New Year, folks

Round 1 in the battle to avoid our area being ruined by unnecessary monster roads has been won by the protesters. See an update on the By-pass page here

I've added a little more of Mr Chandlers interview to the history page. Part 2 can be accessed here

If you didn't notice them when you first came on to the site, please check out the new weather features on the homepage.

Some welcome traffic news -

A new pedestrian crossing is to be built in the centre of the village, crossing from outside the MotorWorld shop to Rainbows. Bilbrook Road and Joeys Lane are to have speed 'humps' built and raised junctions to slow traffic. This is all to be welcomed, of course, but some other roads in the village are more liable to speeders. Ringhills and Wesley Roads are long, straight and used as shortcuts by (mainly) young idiots who race through endangering the kids playing in the roads and riding their bikes. The children have fewer and fewer places to play. The green outside the medical practice was used for playing football and was away from houses. Where are the kids supposed to play if more and more of our green land is built over? 5 new 'rabbit hutches' are being built where the kids used to play.

You will, hopefully :-), have noticed that the word 'History' is highlighted in light green on the main screen. I will in future highlight in this way links to those pages that have been updated. The history page now has a link to 'Bilbrook Memories' a place for anyone to record memories of the village, just send me the details.

Bilbrook from the air courtesy of Multi-Map.Com Showing Bilbrook and Codsall in roughly the centre of the screen. The railway line in from lower right and exits upper left, cutting through the villages. Right in the middle of the villages is the green playing field of Codsall High School. Bilbrook lies to the right of this, Codsall to the left. Further right and somewhat smaller we see another green patch in the village. This is the Lane Green First and Middle Schools

Inter Parish Games

I have been sent some details of fellow residents participation in the Inter Parish Games. I will try to get these on the site this coming weekend.

To those of you who have kindly sent me your memories of life in the village - I haven't forgotten you! I will also try to get these set up this weekend

The adverts have gone! Yes, I've paid to have those dratted popup adverts removed. We still seem to have a problem with a blank one that pops up occasionally. I will get in touch with my ISP and see if it can also be squashed!

We're losing our bus services!

From March 10th 2002, West Midlands Travel will no longer run the 536 or 534 services. From this date the service will be run by the 'Choice' company. This might be alright for those people only going to Wolverhampton but the West Midlands Travel services are used by many as the first part of a journey, particularly for the many work commuters. Many such people, including your Webmaster, use travel passes or day tickets. This means that many in the village would have to pay a fare on Choice and then on WM. People will not do this if they have a choice. They will make other arrangements to get to work or have the inconvenience of walking up to Birches Bridge to catch the 535 service. So much for encouraging people to use public transport! The rush hour services must make a profit given the numbers I see on them every day. Adjustments could have been made to off-peak services if they weren't profitable.

No More NHS Dentistry.

Bilbrooks Dental Surgery has decided they no longer want to serve the people. Only private treatment will be available from the Duck Lane premises

I haven't been able to work on the site much recently as my wife and I have been increasing the population of Bilbrook, with the birth of baby Olivia.

Will, hopefully, be able to do some more work on it soon
