The Woodman Inn

The Woodman Inn has stood at the centre of the village for some two hundred years. Initially the Inn was only the central section of the current building, where the name sign is displayed. Over the years - in living memory - the Inn has expanded into the two neighbouring cottages. Run by Elaine and Keith Davies for 18 years, the Woodman has seen quite a few changes. Who can remember the Snooker table or the orange plush sofas?!

Here in the lounge, the secluded bays create an intimate atmosphere, as does the central fire, as it blazes away in the Winter months.

As the pictures below show, food is available at the Woodman. The dining area was created some fifteen years ago, following a rearward extension of the building. Your webmaster has dined here on a number of occasions. The food is good basic fare, well priced and the staff are friendly and efficient. The only slight criticism I would have is that there is not a great deal of choice for vegetarians as can be seen from the menu.

Although the photographs were deliberately taken at a quiet time, if you want to eat at main meal times you need to get your bookings in well in advance as demand is very high. In fact this demand is such that the proprietors have sought agreement from the owners to extend the dining area further. So far this has not been agreed.

Please Note: The Woodman will be closed for refurbishment for about two weeks from closing time (11:30pm) on August Bank Holiday Monday 2003. It will reopen for the lunch time session on Saturday 6th September 2003.
